ProDocument

File and document management for Clarion applications

Clarion 5.5+ ABCLegacy

Add managed file and document storage, check-in and check-out, flexible handlers, GUID-based storage, and optional server access to Clarion applications.

ProDocument adds structured file and document management to Clarion applications without requiring you to build the entire storage and workflow layer yourself.

It can manage simple lists of files or more complex sets of documents related to application records.

Flexible storage

Files can be linked in their original locations, copied into managed storage, or moved into managed storage. Applications can use external files or BLOB storage depending on the workflow.

For external storage, ProDocument can also use Windows compression and GUID-based filenames to reduce naming conflicts while preserving the original filename when a document is opened, edited, or printed.

File handling and user workflow

Users can add, open, edit, print, delete, check out, and check in managed files. Windows file associations can provide the default handlers, while application-specific rules can override OPEN, EDIT, and PRINT behavior when needed.

Clarion procedures can also be used as built-in handlers for selected file types.

Server and integration options

ProDocument includes support for serving managed files through NetTalk-based servers, including direct links to published files.

It can also work alongside ProSeries imaging tools such as ImageEx, ProScan, and ProImage when an application needs to combine document management with scanning or image processing.
